Uluwatu, Bingin, Balangan

Introduction

Best beaches in Bali

Uluwatu is where you’ll find soaring limestone cliffs and 180-degree views of the Indian Ocean. This spectacular coastline attracts world-class surfers but it’s also famous for stunning hidden coves and white sandy beaches like Thomas Beach, Padang-Padang Beach, Suluban Beach, Melasti Beach and Pandawa Beach.

Uluwatu has everything you need for a comfortable stay including trendy restaurants, bars, beach clubs, spas and shopping. The entire area has a lush island-luxe feel to it that is distinctly different from the ambience of Seminyak and Kuta. One thing’s for sure – you’ll never get tired of the majestic views from your perch in Uluwatu!

Cultural Landmarks

Go exploring

An impressive, ancient structure, Uluwatu Temple was built 70 metres above sea level atop a narrow ledge. It’s a must-visit and popular tourists’ attraction thanks to its dramatic location and incredible views. Built in the 11th century, it is beautifully maintained and sits in a vast forested garden area occupied by long-tailed macaques. Everyone is welcomed to visit the Uluwatu Temple although only pilgrims are allowed into its inner sanctum to pray. The garden is great for walks, providing amazing views of the soaring coastlines from meandering stone paths. The place is safe for little children as there are tall walls built along the edge. Don’t miss out on the iconic Kecak Dance that takes place at sunset!
